Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Many students will experiment with drugs at some point or another, if they haven’t already. That being said, Lehigh’s drug scene is really no more prevalent than at any other school. Pot is almost always available as long as you know the right people, although the police are far more attuned to the drug scene than many students realize. There has been a significant number of drug-related arrests over the past few years.

On top of the availability of pot, there is also a fairly startling amount of prescription drug abuse. It is not uncommon for students to pop pill after pill of Adderall during midterms and finals, and plenty of students use speed on a daily basis for mere homework assignments. There is also a fair amount of “drug-cocktail” use, as some students will drop a Xanax, Lithium, or Vicodin—or even all three for that matter—into their drinks in order to enhance their night. But, these people are the exception, not the rule. Cocaine has also seen a rise in popularity, which once again isn’t surprising, given the money that many students come from. Hallucinogens, like mushrooms and acid, are also popular among the drug crowd, but as with all drugs at Lehigh, no one should ever feel forced or pressured to partake. Drugs are around, but you don’t have to be around them.

Alcohol Prevalent, Drugs Not So Much

Nearly everyone drinks, and quite a bit. The drug scene is rather small, although it definitely exists. It became a bit more prevalent for DayGlow, which is its own story, but otherwise drug use is pretty limited, except for marijuana which, again, has a certain crowd (definitely not even close to a majority though).

Drinking Is Bigger

if you want to be in the drug scene then you can, but you don't normally see it if you don't want to be a part of it. If people do drugs, its normally weed; drinking is much more visible.
