College Prowler Take
Public transportation is essentially nonexistent in Bethlehem. Sure, there’s a public bus, but no one from Lehigh has ever been on it. The town is small enough that as a freshman you can walk just about anywhere you’d need to get to, and chances are you’ll meet someone who does have a car anyway. Lehigh provides a bus service around campus, as well as the all-important TRACS van for drunken traveling at night. There is also a shuttle to the Lehigh Valley Mall on weekends, which is highly recommended just as a means of getting away from campus for a bit. There is also a bus station right in town that can take you to New York City, and the Lehigh Valley International airport is a 15-minute ride away from campus. Cab service is poor at best, and good luck trying to get a cab at 2 a.m. after a long night at the bar in an attempt to get back on the Hill. Most students would agree that the best way to get anywhere is by car, be it class, restaurants, Allentown, or NYC. Having a car after freshman year is crucial, especially on Lehigh’s hilly campus. The freedom you have is unparalleled, and as fun as freshman year can be, it only gets better once you have a car.

Lehigh runs its own service...
Lehigh runs its own service late-nights on the weekends that runs from off campus to the top of the Hill (where most of the fraternities are). You’ll never need to worry about getting to a party when it’s raining. As far as out-of-town transportation, there’s a bus station a few blocks off-campus that runs to both Philly and NYC, among other places. There isn’t much that takes you around Bethlehem, though. |

Public transportation is not very...
Public transportation is not very available. Getting around is much easier after freshman year if a student can bring a car, though, that’s not to say that freshman year without a car is miserable. It is much better to not have a car; stick around campus and have the true freshman experience.’ |

There really isn’t any that I know of, and you really don’t need any. Almost everywhere you’d hang out at Lehigh is within walking distance. |

Is this a joke? There is nothing ‘in town’ worth seeing. You really don’t leave campus except to go to the bar, and even then it’s practically across the street. |

Do we even have public...
Do we even have public transportation? I can honestly say that you will catch about five of the 4,500 undergrads at Lehigh on LANTA Metro. Just say no. |
