College Prowler Take
If you have a meal plan, you pretty much have to eat in the Bon (Fields Dining Room) for most meals because you can only use flex points in the Trail Room, Maggie’s, and Dovecote. This can be restricting because the Bon is only open during certain hours, and sometimes it’s tough to juggle the hours with your classes. On the bright side, it is all-you-can-eat. However, that can be problematic when it comes to the Freshman 15. The salad bar is great, as is the deli bar during lunch. Bon Appetit, the company that caters on campus, does a good job of providing options for vegetarians and vegans, and it also provides many organic options. At first, it seems like the options are endless, but over the course of the semester, the menu becomes repetitive. Breakfast features an excellent omelet bar, fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, and bacon. Also, the Bon is usually packed, so it’s a great place to socialize. The Trail Room has similar but slightly better food. It is used mostly by commuter students and faculty since you can only pay with cash or flex points. It is located downstairs from the Bon. Maggie’s is located central to many of the residence halls, and its late hours entice students to come and buy overpriced coffee drinks and snacks. Many wish there was a cheaper place to eat outside of regular meal hours on campus.

The food is amazing. They cater to vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, etc. There's a good variety, and it's very healthy! They have excellent environmental practices, too, which is a big plus---all organic, local, hormone-free, free-range everything.

Sometimes the dining hall ("The Bon") is a little inefficient, but if you dare complain about the food, you are a spoiled little diva. They make us great food all the time---I love it. Even the nights when it looks like there is nothing good to eat, you will find yourself surprised at how much you are enjoying your meal. The only problem you run into is the huge lines that form when they're serving something really great. We have a little convenience store called Maggie's that will fill all of your hunger needs when the Bon is closed. Lots of organic treats, coffee drinks, juices, and baked goods---it's perfect for curing the Munchies. The paninis are to die for.

Personally I like the food. Most people will disagree, though, and if you can't go a day without meat and junk food, you might have to buy food on your own at Fred Meyer. If you're vegan or vegetarian or like to eat healthy, the Bon will probably be your haven for that lifestyle.

For the most part, food is good on campus. One place you might want to be suspicious of is Fields Dining Room. Buy flex points along with the set meal plan since these points can be used in places like the Trail Room or Maggies.

There is one main dining hall, which has fine food, but you just get tired of it. There are two other cafés, Maggie's and Dovecote. Maggie's is open until midnight, which is awesome, and it is actually starting to get some really good food, like paninis. Dovecote is a nice café, but it's not open for very long.
