College Prowler Take
The campus safety at Lewis & Clark is productive, protective, and responsive. Most students feel 100 percent safe, and never once question that their safety might be jeopardized. Campus safety is present on campus and invisible behind the scenes. Rarely does anything too serious occur on campus beyond the occasional theft or misdemeanor. In the case of more serious crimes, like attempted abductions and rape, though such things very rarely occur, the officers are always ready to respond. The campus office gives out business cards at the beginning of the year listing the emergency and non-emergency phone numbers for campus safety. When asked, most students on campus say that they feel completely safe. Campus safety’s biggest job is enforcing the drug policy on campus. Underage drinking can be a problem at LC, and the officers are trained to deal with the problem. For the most part, however, the officers aren’t sniffing around for any wrong-doers, but instead responding to calls from RAs who notice suspicious behavior.

Campus Safety are way more strict...
Campus Safety are way more strict about drugs, drinking, and other campus regulations than those at Reed College. This means that officers will not turn a blind eye to obvious violations, and they get called in by RAs to investigate things pretty routinely. It is not too serious if you get caught; something like three or four write-ups in a semester results in suspension or warning of suspension. It is pretty easy to have a crazy night of drinking in a room as long as it's not too loud.

CLAs usually turn a blind eye if they know something is going on, but if they're doing rounds, you're most likely going to get caught if you're loud. Empty cans and bottles are okay in the room---you'd only get in trouble if there are open ones. Your first write-up isn't a big deal.

The drinking and drug policies are pretty fair and standard, in that remedial classes what I hear most about students having to do. The only part that doesn't make sense is that we have to pay for them.

The only people who get caught with drugs or alcohol ever are the ones who are being very obvious about it. Other than that, its pretty easy to get away with many illegal substances.

It is pretty easy to get away with things as long as you are not stupid about it. Getting written up for beer or weed is common but not taken too seriously. People do not go out of their way to catch you, but if you are stupid about it you will get caught.
