College Prowler Take

It is a well-known fact that marijuana is very popular at LC. However, there are many students who don’t smoke pot, as well, and there is no pressure from smoking students to participate in anything they don’t want to do. (“Hey, more for me,” they think.) The students who really have an intense drug problem with marijuana or alcohol, the other prevalent substance abused on campus, rarely last long at school. The academics are too intense to maintain a consistent partying lifestyle, and the drug use is usually reserved for the weekends or for nights when there are no morning classes to look forward to the next day.

Another major issue involving drugs on campus is cigarette smoking. Despite being a green, clean school there is a surprising number of smokers on campus, and many non-smokers (and smokers) complain about the smokers who block the entrances to classes and dorms. The policy in Oregon is that smokers must be 25 feet away from all entrances to buildings, but this is rarely maintained, and the ash trays outside are usually overflowing with cigarettes. The campus recently has considered becoming completely smoke-free, but whether this resolution will pass or not has yet to be determined.

It depends on who you surround yourself with. There's parties off-campus, and people do smoke weed and such, but that's like any campus. If you dont want to be around it, just say so. The people on this campus don't really pressure people into doing what they don't want to.

Everyone loves weed here. There aren't really big parties. People on the weekend definitely drink and smoke, and there are other drugs, but weed is most prominent. There are plenty of people who don't engage in the "party" scence as well.

It is noticeable, but it is mostly just smoking. There are kids who do psychedelics and more experimental stuff, but it is really a small scene. My impression is that these scenes are easy to get into if you want and easy to avoid and ignore if you don't.

The drug scene is not really big, although there is always something going on and some way to get most of the stereotypical college drugs (i.e. shrooms, weed, adderral, etc.). Drinking and smoking are the most popular by far.

Smoking marijuana is practically a birth right to go here and the majority of people also drink. Hard core drug use is varied and rare.
