Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Lewis & Clark is a safe campus in one of the safest cities in the United States. Since it’s in a pretty quiet residential neighborhood, things stay pretty calm, and students hardly ever question their safety on campus. Campus Safety patrols 24 hours a day, and there are emergency phones should a student need help in any situation. All dorms are protected by ID access, and if a door is left open for some reason, an alarm sounds after a certain point. The worst that students usually have to deal with is the occasional theft, often prompted by the student forgetting his or her belongings in a public place. The one item that tends to be stolen more often than anything else is not laptops or phones but food from the community refrigerators in the dorms.

Campus also has the Student Health Center as well as the Counseling Center located in Templeton Campus Center. The health center has walk-in hours every morning from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., after which an appointment is required. These centers are very convenient, and students should definitely take advantage of them.

No Problems at All.

Campus Safety (the people) are not there to catch people doing things they shouldn't, provided of course students are smart about what they are doing. Having said that, if there is a problem, they are quick to respond and are extremely helpful. We know most of them by name.

Throughout campus, we have emergency tower things, which are illuminated and have an emergency button which directly contacts on-duty campus safety officers.

There are very few problems related to safety as it is such a small, tight-knit community.

Above Average but Not Perfect

Campus security are pretty chill people, but stuff will still get stolen if you leave it out. A lot of times, with, say, bikes, it will re-appear later, but the occasional laptop or phone will still go missing every once in a while

Lewis & Clark: Safe College in a Safe Neighborhood

Lewis & Clark is located in a relatively affluent residential neighborhood where the crime rates are low. Since I have attended, Lewis & Clark has only had one violent encounter on campus, and it wasn't even that violent. I have never felt unsafe on the Lewis & Clark campus. I often walk back from the library to the dorms late at night with no fear. Keep your doors locked to avoid theft. Campus Safety is pretty much on top of everything that goes on on campus so make sure to keep your tomfoolery to a minimum.
