Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Portland: the perfect place for foodies. Though pickings are slim near campus, all it takes is a short bus ride into downtown, and you’re in heaven. If you’re craving pizza but also want to get off campus, there is the ever-so-popular Hotlips Pizza, which sells pizza by the slice, in addition to their own fruit sodas (which are also sold on campus). Hotlips even has vegan pizza available. Hands down, some of the most popular food to students is the food carts that you find all over downtown. For $5 to $8, you can find yourself in possession of a plate full of steaming hot Thai noodle dishes or an incredible chicken gyro. Options are unlimited and incredibly diverse—Japanese, vegetarian, vegan, Italian, Thai, American, French, and Chinese, just to name a few. You name it—it’s there.

For those who wish to be studying off campus, cafés are usually the most popular. Starbucks and Bella’s Garage are right near campus, the latter of which is a small coffee shop that sells a great cup of coffee, snacks, and is conveniently open late. Other popular spots include Peet’s Coffee and Tea, Stumptown Coffee, and the coffee shop inside Powell’s City of Books. One thing is for sure: Portland is not lacking in great places to eat or grab a cup of coffee. Unfortunately, most places aren’t within walking distance, in which case, you can get food delivered or find a friend with a car.

Yum

Lewis and Clark is surrounded by many little neighborhoods that are a quick bus or bike ride away. If you don't feel as adventerous the campus shuttle, The Raz, drops you off in the heart of downtown where there are many food carts as well as reasonably priced restaurants. It may take a while, but I recommend heading into Hawthorne, which is one bus ride away from downtown. Hawthorne has a plethora of cute restaurants including Chez Martin, a delicious french restaurant. Also if you like Thai food or Sushi, there is an abundance of Thai and Sushi restaurants in Downtown.

Portland Has It All

Portland is full of places you can go out to eat. It has a couple chains, but local places are the best. Voodoo Donuts is legendary, macaroni grill is good and it has tons of coffee spots.
