Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

While it may be convenient to have a car, this does not mean it is difficult to get around the city. In reality, it is quite the opposite; Portland has a top-rated public transportation system, which makes it easy to get off campus and around the city. LC has its own transportation, the Pioneer Express, which runs on the hour and drops students off downtown, making stops at Fred Meyer, the go-to grocery store for LC students. This mode of transportation is the preferred choice of LC students, due to the fact that it’s convenient and free.

The Portland TriMet system includes buses, the MAX light rail, and the Portland Streetcar. Both the MAX and the Streetcar are free within the confines of downtown Portland, and the buses only cost a couple of dollars. Portland is a city with a lot to keep a student busy; it’s just a matter of the student getting out there and making it happen, which is made simpler by Portland's extensive and convenient mass transportation.

i think the bus system is very great here, but the only problem is that they stop running pretty early, usually around 6 or seven is the last bus, which means no games or extra activties without a car.

The Razz

The razz, the pio, the bus, the orange thing that moves and gets us where we want to be...is okay. It runs hourly, which could seem like a lot, but when you only spend 10 minutes buying groceries, you live 20 minutes away from the market by foot, it's all up-hill, and you're carrying a heavy bag of vegan ice cream....it sucks.

When your destination is downtown Portland, however, it's a little better. You really just have to know the times and HOPE it's not 20 minutes late...because, yes, that happens.
