I'm just a freshman so I don't have the fullest impression of the school yet. I had a lot of other college options and I'm not sure I'd pick Linfield all over again.

The town is so remote. When you first get to campus, people tell you you'll go to Portland all the time but that's just not true.

There are tons of international students and students from states all over the country, especially Hawaii.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T19:58:40Z
The computers are decent. They should have more PCs because I'm not a Mac person. The network speed and reliability aren't too great.

Health & Safety:
The Health Centre and College Safety do a great job but the medical options are somewhat rare and expensive.

Great workout facility, student run radio station, secure access to computer lab, great macbook rental program, and many more perks.

Many students leave in their junior and senior year to travel abroad, Linfield has a small student community and an engaged faculty making the ratio 15:1.
College Junior 2013-10-01T23:18:56Z
Linfield offers diversity scholarships and there are plenty of international students, making a promising community with many different ethnic backgrounds.

The campus isn't very strict about alcohol and drug use. They highly discourage it, but they hardly ever catch underage drinkers. They also aren't very strict about curfew or having opposite sex people in your room.

The small class style at Linfield College is really helpful. I've gotten to know all of the professors in my major very well and they all really want to help. Some classes are hard and some aren't, but you get what you put into it, really. I think going to class is always worth it. I look forward to most of my classes.

Linfield has a couple major computer labs. They're usually not very crowded, even during midterms and finals. Everyone seems to have their own computer so accessibility isn't a problem. The wi-fi however has some issues. You're not allowed to have your own wifi, which is understandable, but the wifi on campus is really slow and is occasionally hard to connect to.

The Financial Aid at Linfield is okay. They could offer more grants than loans, but it's not like they will any time soon. I think if you work hard in high school and are a unique person, you'll get a better amount of financial aid. But for the rest of us, the financial aid is pretty average.

Each dorm has its own unique character and quality. Most of the freshman dorms aren't that great. The two new buildings Elkinton and Terrell are the nicest dorms, but they're inconveniently much more expensive. There isn't really a standard dorm at Linfield because each building is pretty different.
College Sophomore 2013-07-28T20:32:49Z
Athletics are huge at Linfield. The football team is one of the best in their division and baseball is also a really big deal. The athletic facilities are average, though.

Guys & Girls:
As far as looks, Linfield has some great looking people. The students are pretty diverse in their interests. I think sometimes it can feel like all the girls dress exactly the same, but once you get past the superficiality of their clothing, most people are indeed genuine.
College Sophomore 2013-07-28T20:26:09Z
The visible drug scene at Linfield is pretty limited to just marijuana. But really it depends on who you choose your friends to be. Drinking alcohol is much more prevalent
College Freshman 2013-07-28T20:23:50Z
There is plenty of parking to be found at Linfield, but the lots are a bit of a walk away from the buildings in some areas. The lots are kept fairly clean. All students who wish to park on campus must have a permit, which keeps overcrowding to a minimum.

Nicely kept, clean, neat, and comfortable. All rooms are reasonably sized with plenty of furnishings and sitting areas. Laundry services are included in room and board pricing so they are relatively free. The cafeteria is like a buffet restaurant. Very nice! The landscape is kept tidy and pleasurable to look at. There are plenty of lawn space to lounge on or play Frisbee. Also, the gymnasium and football field are beautiful and very accessible to all campus students and faculty.

There are parties at the fraternities, I've only ever been to one and it was not my scene, too many drunk people in way too small a room. There are some bars and a club or two downtown that the 21+ crowd like.
College Senior 2013-07-24T16:42:39Z
The computer labs at Linfield are great! They have the option of being either macs or pc's, which is convenient for students with a preference for one or the other. The wireless is good for the most part except when there is a high number of students using it. Printers in the labs are good, but I wish printing was either free or paid for by our technology fee, not per page.
College Freshman 2013-07-14T08:55:02Z
I haven't heard that people use drugs at Linfield noticably.
College Senior 2013-07-14T01:18:30Z
Even though I live in a "Wellness Dorms", Linfield RA talks to students in our dorm that drink, party or are loud and rowdy after hours. I wish Linfield would allow the Art students to display art on the Linfield grounds. Parking is very strict and limited.

My Art Professors are excellent! They have really taken me under their wing and treated me like family. I basically live in the Art Department. There are only 2 of us in the Art Thesis Track and we both get tons of one on one. I really love the Art Program here. This Art program teaches the basics of art but have expanded to include welding, carving and using a forge. Our Art Department should be increased in size as it is cramped. Personally my Professors have been great with finding me full time work over the summer!
College Senior 2013-07-14T01:01:53Z
The process included taking courses in introduction to studio, drawing, painting or ceramics. You must "declare your major" your Sophomore year. This includes a 4 page written application, an interview with each Art Professor and a showing of my latest artwork. I did not find this process to be difficult. A tip to get into the Art Program at Linfield College is to take your high school art courses very seriously and research Artists and art on your own. Also, remember to keep the art you make fun!
College Senior 2013-07-14T00:52:12Z
I am super happy with the Linfield Art Program! Our Professors are outstanding! They are caring and take time with a student for mentoring and other input. My Art professors have taught me a myriad of medias to use now and in my Art future. My career goal is to obtain my Masters of Fine Arts. I will have to find another school as Linfield does not offer a Master's in Art. I have seen Linfield accept student-alumni as employees.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
