Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

A Linfield education is high quality. Linfield's main goal is to educate students so that they not only end up learning about subjects in classes, but they also are able to think critically in a global environment and develop social skills through on-campus events and activities. In addition, with small class sizes, the lectures are productive and intimate, allowing students to feel comfortable when approaching their professors. Most students are pleased with their academic experience, as the classes are interesting and stimulating, and the professors teach students how to think effectively and critically. The workload depends on what classes you take and what teachers you have. Some students have been known to stay up all night with a significant amount of work, while other students are free to spend their time doing other things because of less work.

Most students who attend Linfield College find the perfect balance between academics and on-campus involvement through various events, activities, and internships, creating an environment of "learning, life, and community." Students find the atmosphere to be ideal. The faculty is accomplished and approachable; plus, the student body is also friendly. In addition, the College has an excellent study abroad program. There are study abroad programs for a year, a semester, or during the January term. Ninety-two percent of Linfield graduates are employed or enrolled in a graduate program within one year of graduation. Students pursue graduate degrees at universities like Harvard Law, Yale, Princeton, Vanderbilt, UCLA, and Oregon Health and Science University.

Tough, but Worth It

I am a biology major and the course load is pretty tough. I am working through it in two years, so that makes it a lot harder, but there is definitely an expectation of academic excellence. The professors are great about involving students in research and being available to help. The facilities are great and the faculty that run the lab and good about having all the supplies ordered and prepped.

Tough, but Worth It

As a bio major, I'm taking a lot of chemistry and the chemistry program is pretty tough here. I love the challenge of the academics at Linfield. One thing that has really impressed me is how willing most of the professors are to work with you and help you understand the material. They have all been great to work with and have made the tough classes really enjoyable. It's awesome to have that feeling of success in a hard class and to have the professor be just as excited as you are.

Athletic Training at Linfield

The program at Linfield for athletic training is very intense. Besides nursing, it has the most amount of credits to graduate. It is really difficult to do if you want to be collegiate athlete as well. Besides that, they prepare you very well for the exam to officially be an athletic trainer. They have only had 6 people not pass the test.
