Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Each housing option at Linfield has its perks. For example, even the older, traditional brick buildings have been renovated, so the rooms are spacious and updated. Students also like the lounges, with amenities such as TVs and DVD players, pingpong tables, and pianos. Overall, Elkinton and Terrell are the newest and nicest dorms on campus, which are usually occupied by upperclassmen. Generally, on-campus housing is preferred over off-campus housing since many students are involved with campus activities and like the convenience of being close to the action; plus, students also enjoy the sense of camaraderie among all the students living on campus.

The dorms at Linfield range from the East Coast, traditional, brick buildings to the newer, modern halls. All of the older dorms have been either renovated or remodeled. Linfield offers study lounges, laundry facilities, and wireless Internet. All residence halls have card access for outside doors, public call-boxes, lounges with TVs, expanded basic cable, kitchens, and recycling facilities. Room options are singles, doubles, triples, quads, and suites. Some dorms have inside bike storage, pianos in lounges, living/dining areas, and private baths and kitchenettes in the rooms. A number of dorms have window seats available, sinks in rooms, walk-in closets, elevators, built-in bunk beds, and outside patios. Some dorms even have gas fireplaces!

Top Notch Liveability

I have no complaints about dorm life. We have a great hall with all the amenities to make it feel like home. From the fully equipped kitchen, to the living room, to the dorm room itself.

Awesome Housing, Lots of Options

Linfield's on campus housing is amazing! We have something like 17 different options. There are dorms with roughly 20 people to dorms with roughly 90 people. Most dorms are co-ed by floor, meaning there will be a guys floor and a girls floor. There is also 1 all-guys dorm and I think 1, maybe 2, all-girls dorms. There is also a wellness dorm, which is supposedly drug and alcohol free, but they also have longer quiet hours. I lived in Hewitt Hall freshman year and that was a great dorm. One fabulous thing about Linfield is that laundry is free so you don't have to collect quarters and you can do as many loads as you please. I would definitely suggest living in "south campus" because really it's more like central campus and is close to everything from the library, dining hall, sports facilities, post office, Catty Shack, Renshaw where you can print 24 hours a day, and a few academic buildings. North campus is close to mainly academic buildings and O'Riley's cafe. Another great aspect is that Linfield has on campus apartments that are really amazing. The Hewlett Packard apartments were built sometime in the 2000s and are really modern. The only downside is the living room is small, but you can live in the Whites if you want a huge living room. Linfield has everything from singles to doubles to triples to suites to quads to apartments. There are choices galore for housing. And I'd say they are pretty affordable. Some dorms even have walk-in closets or sinks in the rooms.

Very Convenient

The campus is so small that everything is within a 10 minute walk, but eventually you will even complain that thats too far lol. The best dorms on campus for sophomores are Terrel and Elkington, they are only like 4 or 5 years old and super nice. For freshman I think the best dorm is Mahaffey b/c its the biggest and allows you to meet the most people. As for upper class men...the HP's are the place to live. They are on campus apartments in which there is a living room, a kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a washer and dryer. Living in the HP's is much cheaper and way more convenient than living off campus!
