Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There is a mixture of personality types, and for the most part, Linfield students are attractive, well mannered, witty, and fun to be around. Primarily, students on campus are preppy, environmentally-aware types. Most men are well mannered (i.e., holding the door open for girls) and humorous, but some can get a little crazy sometimes. Ladies may want to watch out for the frat guys, some of which definitely get around and are considered "players." As for the ladies, female students are mostly sporty, sorority types, but there are some geeky types, as well. The girls are super nice, fun, good looking, and super seasonal—meaning they sunbathe in the hot weather! Most everyone is friendly, outgoing, and pretty attractive.

Because the College emphasizes the philosophy of getting involved within the campus community, most Linfield students are sociable and connected with their peers. With the benefit of having a smaller campus, there is a feeling of camaraderie among the students. There are also four fraternities and four sororities on campus that are involved with community work, as well as with sponsoring live bands, dances, and events; thus, there are plenty of opportunities to meet other students. Linfield is an ideal college to attend since the importance of investing time and energy in extracurricular activities is balanced with classroom knowledge.

Girls Are Either Nice or Rude

I got in trouble for trying to talk with a couple girls in my hall and they never confronted me about it. This burned a lot of bridges I had with female friends. There are pretty and/or nice girls here, but there are also plenty of arrogant bitches.

Students on Campus

everyone is totally different, although there are different cliques like in high school, the jocks, musical people, art people, nerds, but alot of groups are based on dorms or majors. i am dating someone who goes to a school about an hour away, and we actually plan on getting married by the time we graduate, but i notice other people going through lots of breakups and random hook ups.

Private School Kids..

My parents really wanted me to come to Linfield. I was worried because I dress/enjoy the music big city scene. But many people I talked to assured me there were all kinds of kids that go to this school. WRONG. Everyone I have met is the same preppy private school kind of kid. Most of them are really nice, but you get no diversity pretty much. If you a little different in the ways you think or dress you will have a hard time fitting in.

Facts

Social Scene

Linfield students are very social and outgoing. Everyone is looking to meet new people and gain new college experiences. The social scene ranges from being invited to parties at the fraternity and sorority houses to students watching movies at the Ice Auditorium or live plays and performances at the campus theater on Saturday nights.

Hookups or Relationships?

At Linfield College, there are both hookups and relationships. Of course, if you only hang out at the fraternity houses, you will see a lot of hookups, but there are a fair amount of students at the school looking for a stable relationship and making future plans to settle down after college.

Dress Code

The dress code is pretty casual, but varies according to what is going on. Guys have the laid-back look, wearing basketball shorts, jeans, and T-shirts (this pretty much stays the same for going out at night). Girls are usually casually dressed during the day, wearing jeans and nice shirts, but at night, girls tend to get dressy, with designer brands definitely a part of the dress code. At the dining hall, students wear athletic clothing because a lot of them have just gotten out of sports practice or a workout at the gym.
