Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The majority of students feels safe on campus. The surrounding town does not have a lot of crime compared to larger cities. Special safety measures include the emergency blue-lights around campus and key cards used by students to get into the dorms. Campus security does a good job of patrolling the campus, as well as the streets. There is the occasional stolen bike or laptop, but generally there are no break-ins at the dorms. Because campus security is constantly patrolling, be careful in the way of underage drinking because you do not want to be stopped late at night on the weekends.

College Public Safety provides an escort service in the evening and nighttime hours. All residence halls are equipped with yellow emergency call-boxes and blue-light emergency call stations, which are located throughout the campus. Pushing the red emergency button on either of the devices will immediately connect a student with the College Public Safety office. Academic buildings, facilities, dorms, and suburb apartments on campus are secured at all times and equipped with a computerized card access system controlled by Linfield Campus Safety.

Safe and Comfortable

Most of the time, I feel very safe walking around campus. There are a couple of sketchy neighbourhoods close to campus, but there is rarely any cause for concern as long as you practice common sense. Campus safety are generally good about providing rides and escorts if you do feel unsafe.

Yay Campus Safety!

There hasn't been any crime on campus since I've been a student here, and Campus Safety officers make sure we are kept in the loop about anything suspicious happening in town, or anything they feel we should know as students here.

Really Pretty Safe

Linfield feels really safe most of the time. I haven't heard of any theft. I feel totally safe walking around on campus. I regularly walk from the library to my dorm at 1am and don't feel unsafe at all. Even when I was walking between the art building to my dorm between the hours of 3am and 6am, I only felt slightly uncomfortable, and even that probably just comes from me being from the big city, where one would not do that. There have only been a few occurrences where I've felt unsafe on campus, and Campus Security dealt with those instances right away. Campus Security is actually really great. They will even give you rides if you feel unsafe walking, but no one ever really feels unsafe. And the frat parties are not like the ones you hear about at bigger schools, where guys take advantage of girls. That doesn't happen.
