Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

McMinnville can be described as "quaint and cute," but many say that there isn't very much to do. The town is located in the heart of Willamette Valley's wine country, midway between the coast and Portland. If you have a car or can catch a ride with friends, then there are plenty of things to do in the Portland area. If you don't have a car, the campus is within walking distance from the main part of town, with shops, movie theaters, and restaurants to explore. Students agree that there are always plenty of things to do on campus, through the Linfield Activities Board. They sponsor trips and bring musicians, comedians, and movies to campus. Also, other universities such as Willamette University, Western Oregon, and George Fox are nearby, so students can attend each other's events.

McMinnville has a central location to Portland, which is 30 miles away. The downtown historic district of Portland has 100 commercial buildings and was recently revitalized. Because Portland is one of the greenest cities in America, there are plenty of do-it-yourself (DIY) things to do in the area, including drop-in sewing studios and gardens. Plus, Portland is a mecca for indie rock, with the likes of the late Elliott Smith getting his start here.
