Musical Theatre

The musical theatre major has an automatic music minor built in. But the music and theatre departments harbor a lot of tension between them, and so this makes time management difficult. The theatre program is growing steadily, and most of the professors are excellent. Nearly all of them have been and are involved in theatre professionally.

Parking Is a Little Rough Sometimes

Parking on campus is a nightmare anywhere you go. There is no designated parking for freshman and freshman are allowed to have cars on campus. However, if you live off campus be sure to get to campus a little early so you won't be stuck parking at Stokes, the overflow lot. its only about a 5 minute walk from campus though, so in comparison its not too bad. On campus parking isn't too terrible especially if you notice what times are good to leave, for example, leaving in the morning and coming back to campus around 11-12 is probably the worst time to find a spot. I live on campus and I have never had to park in the over flow lot, so it's really not too bad except in the mornings when a lot of commuters are coming.

Everyone Is Involved in Our Athletics

We recently starting competing at the Division 1 level which has been really fun! Our cross country team, and softball teams have been performing very well, as well as our golf team. We also have basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and tennis. Our intermural sports are really big on campus too, like ultimate frisbee, flag football, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and racketball. We have a new Student Activities Center, we call it the SAC where there is 2 new basketball courts, a couple workout rooms where there are daily activites like Zumba and Spinning available, an indoor track, and a huge weight room with tredmills, free weights, bikes and weight machines. There are also personal trainers available to students! School spirit is huge on our campus, especially when we play our cross-town rivals, Belmont University, in any sport. We call it the Battle of the Boulevard and our whole campus gets involved in a pep-rally in the "square" decked out in purple and gold and anything that makes noise. Its the most fun part of every year!
