Making friends that last a lifetime is just an added bonus to a student's "Haven" experience. However, the school is not for everyone. At times, the University can feel too small, almost like a high school. And if you don't like cold and moody weather, you may want to consider going somewhere else. On the other hand, Lock Haven is in a gorgeous region of Pennsylvania, and the drive alone is worth the trip.
If you're looking for a school that's highly spirited when it comes to sports, you may want to drive down the road to Penn State. School spirit at Lock Haven is nonexistent, with more students turning out for the intramural and club sports than the varsity ones. The lack of spirit doesn't transcend to academics, though. The intimate classroom sizes are conducive for great one-on-one relationships with professors, igniting spirited discussion. Professors can be tough graders, but it's not high school—nothing comes easy anymore. Overall, if college is a battlefield, then Lock Haven prepares you for the war of the workforce.
