Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Many students believe the overall experience at Lone Star College is great. There are many great teachers who have prepared their students for the future challenges of four-year colleges. The workload is designed as not being too hard but not too easy—somewhere in the middle. The grades are weighted the same as any four-year college, but there might be a difference in teaching materials because most four-year college teachers assign more books in order to advance the learning levels of their students.

Still, students recommend their fellow students to enroll in this community college because not only does it save you money, but it also gives you more time if you are uncertain about your future path. There are some things that this campus misses (such as an abudance of student clubs, activities, and athletic centers), but if someone is looking for great education with less cost, Lone Star is a great option—without any doubt.

Average

Without the people I already knew attending the school, I would not have survived. A lot of people here treat the school like it's high school, and I was hoping to get away from that. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a community college, but I honestly didn't make that many friends. I didn't really want to. There is an average amount of school pride but I never really cared about that. Also, I could never make the Phi Theta Kappa meetings so I can't consider myself an "involved member". They should change up their meeting times instead of having one consistent time. The administration caused me no trouble, but the students I could hardly deal with.

Good School, Confusing System

It's very hard to navigate their website, and I had trouble registering for classes. Even the handout they gave me to register was confusing. I went to the orientation and that was very helpful. But, everyone at the school seems to know what they're talking about and I've had knowledgeable teachers for the past two semesters I've been there.

What Makes My School Unique

I like my school and will choose it again if i have to. The diversity it encourages is great. And having several campuses around town to serve students needs and reduce distances travelled each day for students, from home to school and back.
