Longwood University Overall Experience had a new discussion posted by tcep28

Since LU does not have a football team, where do most students go to catch some games?

LU does have a club football team that they are working to establish, even though they aren't very good as of now. If you really want to catch a football game there is always Hampden Sydney College right in Farmville.

There are various sports teams at Longwood University, including a rugby team, a basketball team, a baseball team, golf, tennis, and more. While Longwood's football team is a burgeoning presence rather than an already well-established one, Longwood's many other sports teams help make the university a very lively place for athletics. Additionally, WMLU, the campus radio station, also broadcasts campus sports games live.

I mean do students from LU actually drive out to VTech or UVA to catch big football games?

A lot of students just choose to support the teams that we do have and go to those games.

Hampen- Sydney is right up the road- if you want to go see a football game. Lots of other sports teams have games throughout the week that are typically well attended by students.

Most students go to soccer, rugby, tenis, etc. We have a bunch of sports! At the beginning of the semester, there is a huge pep ralley and march to the first soccer game. We have a lot of spirit for such a small college without a football team!

Women's soccer is pretty big on campus. The first game of the season has a pep rally before it to show the school spirit. People will dress in blue and white, get free scarves (this is pretty big on campus), and cheer on the soccer team.
