Los Angeles City College has made an effort to provide jobs for students. Some students majoring in law enforcement have applied for part-time work as campus security guards. The students who have excelled in a specific course may qualify for or be hired in a mentor/tutor capacity. Usually, a teacher will recommend a skilled or talented student for this type of position. However, a visit to the EOPS office may reveal other opportunities for which one can apply. When a specific mentor/tutor position has not been filled or is needed for high schools, there will be flyers posted near the Financial Aid and EOPS offices. Students may also find job openings at the bookstore and the Office of Student Life.
To inquire about career opportunities after graduation, students should communicate their goals with scholars programs (Ralph Bunche Scholars Program, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society), department heads, and/or counselors to help create a productive plan of action to search for career opportunities.
