Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Let’s face it—college cafeteria food is rarely anything to write home about, and the food at Louisiana College is no exception. LC only has one dining hall, so there isn’t much selection. The dining options include a hot buffet, pizza, made-to-order sandwiches, made-to-order stir fry and pasta, hamburgers, soup, self-serve ice cream, salad, and cereal. The buffet line generally serves two entrée choices, a side dish, and one or two steamed vegetable options. The cinnamon sticks found at the pizza bar are a big favorite. Once you’ve filled your tray, don’t forget to stop at the dessert table and grab some of Hattie B’s famous cookies. If you want to eat healthy, though, it’s generally best to go straight to the sandwich line or salad bar. Avoid the hamburgers at all costs! Unless you have a really strong craving for beef one day, the thin, tasteless, greasy patties will leave your taste buds and stomach in agony. A good but little-tried alternative is the soup of the day. Most students overlook the small pot of soup located between the salad bar and stir fry station, but the homemade soups are generally tasty and filling. So yes, even though cafeteria food gets old after a while, you can always find something edible.

Most students think the cafeteria’s hours are obnoxious. The cafeteria is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but has limited service from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you miss supper, your only other options are The Den, which closes at 9:45 p.m., or Subway, which is located in the Health Plex. There are also vending machines located on the first floor of each dorm. Overall, the value and availability of food at LC are points of complaint for most students.

Dining

There's not a variety of place to choose from when attending Louisiana College. Hattie B's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner to students living on campus and Grille Works in the student center is also available. If anything I'd prefer to eat off campus, the food may get old after awhile.

Pretty Good.

Even if I don't like what's being served, there's always other food to grab, and I usually do like what's being served, so no problem! The cooking staff is great.
