Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Even though students sometimes complain about the dorms at Louisiana College, the rooms are spacious and clean compared to many other schools. The two main freshman dorms were built in the 1940s. CDA, Church Hall, and EV are more recent additions. Tudor Hall has a big-screen TV, vending machines, and a ping-pong table in the lobby. Residents of Cottingham Hall get to enjoy the classic atmosphere of White Parlor with its grand piano and fireplace. Church Hall is adjacent to the football weight room and has a big-screen TV, and EV has several areas with couches and a pool table. The dorms stay cold in both summer and winter, so pack extra blankets.

The residence life atmosphere is fun and full of life. Want to know how many Moon Pies a hungry college guy can eat in a minute? Watch the monthly Tudor Cup competition where the halls battle in various contests of strength, skill, and stomach power. Plus, regularly scheduled events planned by the RA staff keep things interesting. Don’t miss out on the full experience of college life by living at home. Living on campus is well worth the extra cost.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Cottingham is a great dorm to live in. You get to see most of the girls who live on campus. One bad thing is the temperature. Sometimes it's too hot, but mostly it's too cold. However, I would always choose Cottingham over the girls' apartments. They're way to small. The ugly of Cottingham is that most of the walls are paper thin. Not only can you hear everything going on in your neighbors' rooms, but they can hear you too.

The cafeteria on campus has good food, and mostly good workers. I'll skip the bad and go straight for the ugly on this one.. The hours are terrible, especially on the weekends. Also, the menu is way worse on the weekends than during the week. Neither of these things are fair to those of us who don't go home on the weekends.

The last thing is the Den, our ONLY other food option on campus. Not only is it too expensive, but the service is pretty terrible and the hours are awful too. The only good about the den is the food. It tastes good. But when it takes 20 minutes to make a sandwich and you only have 10 minutes to get to class, the food quality doesn't really matter.

Campus Life

It is really expensive to live on campus. The dorms are not the best and it could be better for the cost of the school. The social atmosphere is ok. The cost of the school to me is too much for the quality of the food we get in the cafe, the dorm, etc.

Campus Quarters

The dorms and apartments are in need of improvement, but the atmosphere is quite pleasant.
