If you’re going to college to party, stop reading right now! Hit the back button on your browser, go back to the list of schools, and pick a different college. Louisiana College’s administration is probably the strictest in the state, if not the entire South. There is a zero-tolerance policy for drugs, alcohol, sex, weapons, fighting, and even cursing. Students have been kicked out of the game room and cafeteria for using dirty language. Any students breaking school policies in these areas are harshly penalized and even expelled. Dorm visitation hours are few and far between, and students must follow open-house rules: lights on, door open, feet on the ground, no shared blankets, no making out—and be prepared for a room check every 30 minutes. Failure to follow these rules results in a loss of all open-house privileges. The RAs will rarely if ever give you a break.

The attendance policy is also strict. Some professors don’t take attendance, but in general, the attendance policy is enforced with point reductions after only one or two unexcused absences. Late arrivals count as a half or whole absence depending on the professor. There are some areas, though, in which the school is very lenient. Parking tickets are easy to get out of if you go to the security office in person. Most other trouble you may have can be resolved by meeting with faculty and staff in person. In general, if you’re coming to school for a challenging Christian education, you’ll be fine. Only students who plan to sow their wild oats are frustrated by the strictness of the school.

Christian Based School

I am not sure if there is much that goes on, so I don't know the strictness. I do know however even if you are over 21 you are not allowed to have alcohol on campus. If you have been drinking and it can be smelled you will get in trouble. That is all I know.

My college is very strict. It is a private Christian college, so they try to instill good values in us. They do not let girls and guys hang out in rooms together unless the lights are on and the doors are open. If you got caught doing drugs or drinking they will most likely kick you out!

Strict and Christian

LC is extremely strict about maintaining a Christian atmosphere. An example is that guys are only allowed in the girls dorms at certain times on certain days, and the door has to stay open and they can't sit on the same piece of furniture. I admire LC in it's attempt to maintain sexual purity for its students, but Friday night is not an option for "open house" that is a bit unrealistic. Also, there is a fine for cursing, although I have never seen this enforced.

Open House hours are scheduled on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There's not much you can do during Open House, so most students just choose to hang out off campus or in EV.
