Students normally join Greek organizations to meet new people and feel like part of a group. At LC, however, it’s not necessary to go Greek in order to make friends, and as a result, Louisiana College’s few fraternities and sororities have died a quiet, natural death. Their presence is not missed at all on LC’s campus. Greek life is replaced by the BCM, intramural sports, various department-sponsored field trips, and monthly events hosted by the Union Board and the Resident Assistants.
The classroom is also a great place to meet new people. The average class only has 15 to 20 students, and most professors encourage interaction through group projects and study sessions. You’ll definitely get to know the other students in your major; in fact, you’ll probably know most of your graduating class by the time the big day rolls around. Professors often invite students to their homes for department parties. As always, you get out of college what you put into it. If you choose to reach out and make friends with the people around you, you’ll never feel alone or left out while you’re at Louisiana College.
