Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The community of Pineville definitely supports the students at Louisiana College. The people are warm and friendly, and the nearby churches are highly involved in student activities. Churches provide food, Bible studies, adopt-a-student programs, and retreats. They often become a home-away-from-home for students. The city also enjoys attending various LC sporting events, theater productions, and art exhibitions. But although the people are nice, Pineville and Alexandria don’t provide many options for fun aside from typical small-town amusements. Students enjoy bowling, going to movies, shopping, and visiting the zoo, but these activities get old after a while. Creativity is necessary to stave off boredom, and that’s one reason most kids drive home for the weekends. Students who stay on campus, though, can always find something fun to do, from exploring nearby Kisatchie Forest to sunbathing by Lake Buhlow to playing hide-and-seek in the FAB.

LC’s location in the center of the state is a big plus. Students are able to take quick day or weekend trips to big cities like Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, or New Orleans without wasting a lot of time and gas. A group of students even drove to New Orleans after the Saints’ Superbowl victory and still made it back in time for class the next day. So even though there may not be much in Pineville, students have plenty of options for fun, and the small-town atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming.

Pineville

I live in a small city located in the state of Louisiana. Pineville is quite safe and the community is excellent. The local attitude toward other student is very welcoming. The people here are caring and are willing to lend a hand when someone is in need. There are several places to spend time here. We have a mall and many athletic clubs for those who are in to shopping and fitness.

Not So Much to Do

Pineville is a small town, but it is right across the river from Alexandria; which is slightly bigger. There are plenty of places to go and eat and a mall within 10 minutes from the school.
