Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The twin cities of Alexandria and Pineville offer a decent number of restaurants, but students often complain about the lack of variety in cheap options. Fast-food chains provide a quick but boring meal to students. As far as sit-down dining is concerned, the majority of restaurants serve either American or Cajun cuisine. But, even though several other cultures are represented, students prefer to stick with their favorites. Any students who complain about the lack of options just need to branch out.

Most chain restaurants are located within 10–15 minutes from campus in the mall area and along MacArthur Drive. For local fare, students can visit downtown Alexandria or the outskirts of city. Just remember, Taco Bell is great for a quick late-night snack—but if that’s the only place you ever eat, you’ll never be able to appreciate the other dining options the area has to offer. Head to the local restaurants to enjoy more unique and flavorful meals in a great atmosphere. If you choose to go to college in the South, you need to experience Southern culture at its best.

Coffe and Yogurt.

I love that there are quite a few spots to get coffee. There is also an ace spot to get frozen yogurt. It's not expensive either.

IHOP Aka International House of PAPERS

There are not many places in the area to do late night homework. Most of the restaurants close around 11 so you have to hurry and go back. IHOP is as one place I enjoy going. I am there so offten at 3 and 4 in the morning the night crews have learned my name. Although they are acceptive and even have a little room they put college students in, they do not have a frindly snack option. If you want pancakes your ok but it might coust you a pretty penny to many times. The prices are not that good, but you can get toast, eggs and a free water and compementary endless coffee pot for $4.00 even or so I do. The biggest problem other than price is the fact they have not yet recieved WIFI. So if you have to type a paper, write a speech, study or do math, you are ok but there is no reasearch available. But that might be ok, because it keeps you on track so you dont get on facebook or youtube.
