College Prowler Take
Maybe it is all the warm weather here, or the Southern hospitality, but it’s a commonly accepted fact that Southern people are just more attractive. Maybe it’s the tan skin or that Southerners rarely have to bundle like polar bears in winter clothing, but for most people, a walk around LSU’s campus is undeniably a glance at some really attractive folks. Most students are open to hanging out at parties and going on casual dates with almost anyone that asks. The male to female ratio is fairly even, and though students may go through dry spells, rarely will you meet a student who hasn’t had at least a few dates in their college career. But serious courtship can be a whole other matter. Some students are obviously out to either graduate with their Mrs. degree or leave with a wife in tow. Conversely, there are some students who have no desire to be involved in anything. Relationships run the gamut from commitment-free sexual conquests to serious, life-long companionship. Many acknowledge that the girls tend to be more attractive than the guys. Some of the men here look like they either never hit puberty, or if so, it was a severely turbulent time. Some students complain that people can be too preppy, and it’s hard to deny that it can be more difficult to find someone who is not republican and into the conservative lifestyle. The sheer magnitude of the campus gives students hope that somewhere out there, a potential hottie is waiting to be found.

Some of the hottest people in the South. The guys have long, swoopie hair, as do the girls. Everyone’s really trendy. It’s kind of annoying that practically everyone (in the Greek community) wears polos, but LSU is very diverse. Some girls are fake, snobby, stereotypical sorority b*tches, and some of the guys are pompous fraternity a-holes, but it’s probably like that at every campus. |

There is definitely a wide range of lookers on campus. There are plenty of hot guys to me, but I guess it depends on your taste. I go for the more preppy, fratty look, with the polos and khakis. There are some beautiful girls around campus, too, but I don’t pay much attention to them. |

The guys are like Al Bundy from Married With Children, reincarnated in teenager form. The girls all want to be Jessica Simpson, but fall a few brain cells short (if that’s possible). But the majority of people on campus, I think, are fairly attractive compared to some other Louisiana schools. |

I think everyone here is just having a good time. There are some hot guys; there are some guys who are dumber than a box of rocks. I think you could pretty much find something for every taste. Because many in-state students receive TOPS, which covers tuition, there are people from all types of socioeconomic backgrounds at LSU. There are also many students from Texas at LSU than most state universities in Texas. |

Yes - LSU offers students who have either had an exam at home or have had an exam with one of the in-house gynecologists the option of choosing from a range of pills, the patch, the Depo-Provera shot, and the Nuva Ring. The Health Center also sells discounted condoms.
Social Scene
LSU is a laid-back and relaxed kind of school where everyone is looking to have fun. Most students are fairly welcoming and friendly, making it easy to make friends or meet potential dates. Students are normally chatty everywhere on campus, and many people use classes as a pool of potential hookups. There tends to be some cliques, with Greeks dating Greeks and others sticking two-by-two in their kind. However, most students are open to meeting new people of all kinds.
Hookups or Relationships?
If you're looking for a "shack buddy," you can find that with no problems at LSU. Many students aren't interested in a serious relationship. That doesn't mean there isn't a lot of dating to be done. On the other end of the spectrum, several girls come to campus with the intention of getting their "Mrs. degree," and some guys are willing to bestow the degree. But with 25,000 students at LSU, it should be easy to find someone with similar interests, right?
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Even though LSU has over 25,000 students, sometimes it can seem like everyone knows everyone. Most guys and girls meet up through mutual friends at parties and other gatherings. Student organizations work to make the gigantic school small enough to narrow the many fish in the sea to potential boyfriends and girlfriends. From academic clubs to religious fundamentalist groups, organizations make it easy to find someone with at least one similar interest. Guys and girls tend to be fairly outgoing and laid-back about relationships, so it's easy to strike up a conversation with someone in class, in the dorm, or even someone you seem to see everyday on campus. LSU's party-school status also helps students in finding singles. In the fall, the sheer number of parties is so high, it's almost impossible not to make it out of football season without at least one fling under your belt. Between tailgating before games and parties after, dating becomes a lot easier. But parties rage year round and pretty much for any reason. From out-of-control fraternity parties to smaller house parties, there is always something going on somewhere. The bars are packed Thursday through Saturday and are just another great way to meet someone.
Dress Code
You'll see a lot of the "fratty" look on guys, which consists of polos, outdoor gear like camouflage and deck shoes, and khakis. LSU students tend to go for a more casual style for the daytime. Most don T-shirts and jeans or shorts to class, and no matter the season, a good pair of flip-flops is a necessity. For a night out on the town, students clean up nicely, but still the majority of fashion sense leans towards preppy. But many students branch out beyond the preppy style, and LSU has everything from tie-dyed hippies to more trendy looks. Students keep up with the fads.
