College Prowler Take
The food on Loyola’s campus is catered by Sodexho, which is operated by the Marriott Company. The cafeterias are Primo’s, Boulder Garden, Salsa Rico, and Surf‘n Joe. There are also some other spots on campus to grab something quick, like the Refectory. You wouldn’t call any eating area at Loyola a "dining hall" because they are just not that big, messy, crowded, or cheap. The meal plan is debit-based, which is all well and good until you notice all of your parents’ money being swiped away, and you still have three weeks of school left. That’s when you realize that all those flavored bottled waters and Bagel Bites have left you with a balance of zero dollars and zero cents.

The food is good at first, but you get sick of the same old choices. It is also extremely expensive, and since it's a la carte, you pay for everything you eat. Plan on budgeting about $1,800 a semester on food, in addition to tuition and room and board.

The food here is okay for the first couple of months on campus. Then you seem to get bored of the selection, or run out of money because it costs so much. I suggest learning how to cook. |

The food here is actually really good. Some favorites are the wraps, pizza, stir-fry, and quesadillas. Even though it’s good, it does get a little boring after a while, so bring some of your own food to make in your room. |

Food on campus is pretty good. Primo’s, the main dining hall for dinner, has a lot of choices and tasty food. I especially look forward to their Thanksgiving dinner, with homemade turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and veggies. But, because it’s so expensive, I usually just cook in my own dorm kitchen. For lunchtime, however, I love Boulder sandwiches. They just don’t get any better! And a six-inch turkey sub is really cheap—it costs practically nothing! One of the things I miss the most about Loyola when I’m away is their subs. |

The food is good at first, but it becomes tiresome. The service and prices in the dining halls are terrible. |

Did You Know? The company who provides food on campus is Sodexho, a Marriott company.
During the winter, Loyola students tend to “borrow” the food trays from the school’s eating facilities and use them as makeshift sleds—yea, we’re cheap.
You can find coupons for different eating facilities on campus in the school newspaper, the Greyhound, which comes out every Tuesday.
