College Prowler Take
Most student’s first choice in transportation is taking a taxi. Though it may be slightly expensive spending money on cabs, it beats having to drive yourself and then fighting for a parking spot. Some students even make friends with the drivers and are able to call them personally for a ride when they need it. Baltimore has a lot of public transportation services, but most students opt for the quick pick up of a taxi. For transportation around campus, the CollegeTown Shuttle run by Loyola College is pretty convenient. There are quite a number of stops around campus, and it runs pretty regularly. The added bonus is that it’s free to students. Getting into and out of Baltimore is fairly easy with quick access to the airport. There are a few shuttles and cab services that all cost about the same to get you to the airport. If you prefer to stay grounded for your transportation, Baltimore has an Greyhound and an Amtrak station not far from campus.

The shuttles are usually a couple minutes late, but they take you all throughout campus. The collegetown shuttle is always at least 10 minutes late, and it can cause you problems if you need to get to Penn Station to catch a train.

I suggest using the MARC train if you ever want to go to DC. It’s cheap, fast, and easy, except it doesn’t run on the weekends, so prepare for that. |

As far as I know, public transportation is good. There are buses and plenty of taxis. Washington DC has a great Metro system. Also, the shuttle offers transportation off campus as much as possible. If you’re in an extracurricular activity, campus vans may be available for outings. |

On-Campus Transportation
Loyola has “green” cabs with souped-out sound systems that blare Weezy and T.I. The drivers wear suits and business attire, which is also nice, but this method of transportation is pretty pricey.

Students can find out the time of the next arriving shuttle bus on campus by checking out the NextBus signs at the bus stops. The signs use Global Positioning Systems to track the location of the bus and relays the approximate time of its arrival at each specific stop.
