College Prowler Take
Facilities at LMU fall into two categories: new and old. Buildings like University Hall, Burns Rec Center, Hannon Library, and dorms like Rains and McCarthy feature bright, modern architecture with lots of natural light. On the other side of the coin are the older buildings like Seaver, St. Roberts, and dorms like McKay and Whelan. These buildings have uninspired, bland architecture, but the interior matches the same level of quality and cleanliness found in the newer buildings. All classrooms are large and comfortable. They feature a projection system, computer, Internet, and cable. To keep the rooms nice, signs forbid students from eating and drinking in the classrooms, but the rules are rarely enforced. Overall, the entire campus is extremely clean. The University employs a large staff to maintain the plants and clean the classrooms. The maintenance staff even cleans the sidewalks and dusts the escalators.
The campus eyesore is West Hall, a small set of portable classrooms near Leavey and Xavier. These rooms are hot and dark, and the bathrooms in the adjacent trailer are miniscule. Students complain frequently about this building as it is often neglected. Among the big, beautiful buildings on campus, West Hall simply does not fit in.

They put a ton of money into the buildings here, except for West Hall. I always feel like the walls will collapse in an earthquake. |

Most buildings are nice. University Hall is great, but the dining halls are kind of gross. Some of the dorms could use work, like Rosecrans and Whelan. |

All on-campus facilities are nice and well kept. However, West Hall could use a little help in the classrooms and the restrooms! |

The facilities are beautiful. You’ll know where your tuition goes when you step into the gym, the computer labs, or sit by the trickling fountain in the fully stocked library. You always see people doing maintenance on campus, gardening and painting and repairing to keep it gorgeous. |

There is a center for first-year students, which has helped me a lot with any questions I had and made college bearable and doable. Most of the computers are up-to-date, with some few exceptions (like the engineering computer lab). The computers there are Windows 98 powered, but most computers around campus are powered by Windows 2000 and Windows XP with the complete package of the Microsoft Office suite. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
The LMU campus offers something for everyone. The gym at Burns Rec Center features modern equipment, including treadmills with individual cable televisions and a wide range of weight machines. The center also offers table tennis, swimming, exercise classes, tennis, and basketball. In the mood for caffeine?
