College Prowler Take
One word: sunshine. Although it is a stereotype, California is the land of sun and surf with little variance in seasons. If you are from the eastern half of the nation, a winter without snow and ice is bizarre. Instead, California winters are much like the other seasons: mild and sunny. In the winter months, precipitation comes in the form of a deluge of rain; often, the city receives a month’s allotment of rain in two or three days. While the rest of the nation suffers with arctic cold fronts, Californians deal with some light wind and rain. Although Los Angeles lacks winter weather, fashionable Angelenos break out their winter coats and Ugg boots when the temperature dips below sixty-five degrees. The coastal areas, including LMU, are breezier than the rest of the city. In the mornings, a blanket of sea fog covers the area, but it usually dissipates in the afternoon. For the cooler, breezier days, a sweatshirt or coat is highly recommended, although some students still wear T-shirts and shorts. LA is one of the few cities in the nation where students don’t need to worry about walking to class in the snow.

Perfect. Oh, sure, there are days when it’s chilly, but I’m not complaining. Nobody here really needs heavy coats or air conditioning. The temperature is pretty much the same year-round. |

It’s usually in the mid-70s here, so it’s pretty mild. It’s colder in the mornings and on days when it’s foggy, but usually around noon it warms up. |

LMU is on a hill just off the coast, so we do get a strong ocean breeze. It gets pretty cold sometimes, so bring some sweatshirts. You’ll need an umbrella for when it rains. |

I just love the weather here. I’m from the Midwest, so I’m used to two feet of snow on the ground in January. Now, I wear shorts in the winter. |

Weather during the spring and early summer months can range from the mid-70s to the 90s, so for these months cool clothing is highly recommended. During the fall and winter it can get quite cool—into the 40s and 50s. Turtlenecks, jackets, sweaters, and sweats are good to have handy. You can always change if need be. |
