Chicago’s public transportation system is one of the finest in the world. There is almost nowhere in the city that cannot be reached by train or bus. This is good news for Loyola students, for whom taking the train is almost cheaper than walking. For the amazingly low fee of $74 per semester, students get a CTA U-Pass, which gives them the ability to ride any CTA train or bus as often as they like. The handiness of this little plastic card cannot be underestimated: one ride on the CTA normally costs $2. Many students could easily spend more than $74 in a month riding the El back and forth between the University’s two campuses. Many students assert that the U-Pass is the best part about going to Loyola.
Chicago is the hub of transportation throughout the Midwest. O’Hare International Airport has been voted the best in America six years running, and Midway is great for cheaper flights. Amtrak trains and Greyhound buses originating in Chicago travel all over the country. With so many different ways to get out of town, leaving the Windy City is so simple you could almost do it in your sleep.

Super Easy to Get Around
CTA Pass is included with tuition which makes it super easy to get around Chicago. Buses and trains come every few minutes, and it's very easy to flag down a cab if you're in a hurry.

Buses Are the Way to Go
The CTA is available, which is very convenient. However, the bus system is much faster and come every 15 to 30 minutes. You'll encounter many crowded buses.
