I'm not quite sure, since I don't really go to parties. We're not in the middle of a large city, so there isn't a big selection of bars to go to, but there are dorm and house parties, as well as a popular club just down the road. If you want to party, you can, though it doesn't get in the way of everyone else too often.

It's a temperate zone at Luther. You get anywhere from blazing heat to numbing colds. It's a good variety that can be enjoyed. The snow on campus makes it beautiful during Christmas time

If you plan to be a music major or want to continue doing anything music related for fun, Luther is the best possible place. There are practice rooms in almost every dorm, and the few that don't have any (I believe there is only one) is right next to the music building. The building itself is well equipped with practice rooms and performance rooms. Many students participate in choirs and orchestras who are not music majors. The whole atmosphere surrounding music at Luther is that anyone and everyone who loves it participates, regardless of major.

I received a decent amount of aid. I only had to fill out a few forms. As a student, I can also log in to a website and view my financial aid, scholarships and other related things any time I want.

Decorah has many local restaurants that serve some of the best foods possible. Many of the options available are uncharacteristic of such a small town but regardless, are very nice to have around.

Like any liberal arts college in a small town, options are made by the students rather than given to them for a nightlife. there are two clubs in the area and a lot of college houses, but most of the city itself is calm and lax.

Guys & Girls:
A lot of people with differing beliefs go to Luther. As such, many of the boys and girls have very intense beliefs that make dating slightly hard for some. As a gay student it's harder to find a guy at a school with both a high acceptance for lgbt students and an equal amount of disdain. However, the majority of men here are very funny, very accepting, and very cute.

The food can be very delicious or very bad depending on what they serve. however Luther's care and compassion to improving student dining is admirable

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on Luther's campus. There is security consistently on patrol and there is a health services located conveniently on campus.

There are people of many different races and religions, but it is nothing relative to a large university.

Due to the fact it is a private school and the enrollment is low, there is not a ton of Greek life at Luther, but there is a decent amount. Due to the fact I have not attempted to enter a sorority I wouldn't know much about it.

I have not lived off-campus at this college, for I just finished my freshman year. I have been to quite a few off-campus houses and have seen what is available though. I do not know anything when it comes to cost or how the landlords are, but the houses seen fairly close to campus and are in overall good shape.

I received a significant amount of financial aid, and the school organized the entire financial aid packet for me. I did not have to do anything challenging when apply so it was an extremely easy process. Though it is a private college, so they give a decent amount of scholarship money to everyone, the process was still very easy.

Even with a permit, if you park somewhere for 15 where you are not allowed to, you will get a fine. They are constantly on patrol

The large majority of Luther population is white, however that is starting to change. Professors are vary diverse in ethnic/racial/religious diversity. Economic backgrounds are a little more diverse than the average because Luther values students who work hard in school. Sexual orientation seems to be average compared to most schools. Political beliefs on campus tend to be more liberal, but there is still a wide variety of beliefs.

Luther has been really kind in giving me financial aid. The whole process was pretty easy. The only thing I would have liked was to have them ask who was paying the bill. I am paying for school myself, so it would have been nice to receive a larger financial aid package because of it.

Parking is nice, but there needs to be more space added due to many students bringing vehicles.

Decorah is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for the small town experience, yet still want to get away to nature, this is the college for you! There are beautiful bluffs, a river, and many parks. There is always many opportunities for sports and recreation activities. The shops in town are quite cute, and Decorah always has events going on. The ever popular Nordic Fest is a favorite. Students and community have a great relationship. The town is very safe, and the perfect place to live or go to college.

There are many option for off campus dining, some of which are expensive for college students with very little extra money. However, they are well prepared and a nice treat.

Luther College in Decorah, Ia does not offer any sort transportation. Students often walk to necessary destinations or have their own form of transportation such as cars or bikes.

Guys & Girls:
This is an unexpected question but there are all types of people at Luther. Mostly, though, I just enjoy, in general, how much diversity there is in my friends but also how amazing they all are. They are intelligent, thought-provoking people who truly want themselves and those around them to be better everyday. It may just be the people I surround myself with but to me, my friends are the epitome of what a quality liberal arts student is (intelligent, caring, challenging, honest, just and equitable person). At the same time I have had experiences with people who are prejudiced but have quickly taught myself to redirect my attention and efforts to those who seek to improve the lives of those around them.

I love Sociology. I switched to sociology junior year and it has taken me exactly where I want to be. I seriously went through an identity crisis about my major but not only was my advisor great and directing me through the change but the head of the sociology department let me join an intro. class half way through the semester (I did the first half independent study while taking the second half of the course). She guided me through my transition to sociology, to a great urban studies program in Chicago, and now off to graduate school to study Educational Theory and Policy. #DreamComeTrue

Truly, Luthers housing is great! Most of them are newly renovated and the facilities are beautiful. Only bad thing (i.e. the B and not an A) is how expensive it is to live on campus at Luther. Most students don't know it because it's just combined in their total cost for the year but it does add a huge chunk to your costs.

Luther's facilities aren't Top 10 in the Nation or anything like that but are kept up very well by the faculty, staff, and students here and though many of them are old they still present a welcoming atmosphere. The student union on campus (Dahl Centennial) is newly renovated and houses the cafeteria, other dining facilities, student post office, resident life, service center for office supplies, and the bookshop. There are several places on campus to view art, many convention rooms, countless places for study, and many places for students just to relax and have fun. I truly am impressed by the upkeep and availability of facilities for all of students needs here at Luther!

Luther has got to be one of the best places for school involvement. From athletic teams to music ensembles to intermural sports and clubs/organization there is literally something for everyone (or 15 things, if your so ambitious). Truly, there is not a lack of events/organizations to get involved in a Luther.
The most impressive part to me is how involved Luther is in getting students active and doing things all over Decorah. There are groups that go kayaking every weekend, some that hike, some that mountain bike trails, some that play club sports (rugby, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse), tubing down the river, etc. When the weather is nice there are endless groups that get students out, active and away from campus.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
