Residence Hall Policies

While residence hall policies are emphasized, there are not huge consequences for first, second, or even third time violators. Students generally don't get too out of hand. RAs only write students up when absolutely necessary or when a situation becomes unsafe. Overall, the campus is supportive and has a fair amount of common sense. It doesn't feel very restrictive.

Political Science & History at Mac

Both majors have a significant workload in terms of reading and papers, but not tests. It tends to vary by professor. The facilities are great, job opportunities are communicated much more effectively by the Political Science department, though, and I generally feel more comfortable there. The History department tends to have "hit or miss" classes - some are so incredible it's hard to believe you're getting credit for it, and others can be tedious or overwhelming. Political Science classes have been consistently phenomenal. Professors in both departments are helpful, brilliant and dedicated.

Not an Issue

You have to get special permission to have a car if you live on-campus, and you have to live on campus for your first two years. By then, you'll have figured out the public transit system. The lack of cars means that there's almost always good parking for visitors, unless some sort of big event is going on.
