Students who study to be industrial production technicians learn basic engineering rules and specific skills to help engineers and other professionals engaged in developing and using various industrial products. This may Include instruction in the principles of macromolecular chemistry, polymerization and manufacturing processes and equipment, design and operational testing procedures, equipment maintenance and repair procedures, safety procedures, applications to specific products, and report preparation. Subtopics include: plastic and polymer engineering technology, metallurgical technology, chemical engineering technology as well as semiconductor manufacturing technology, among others.
