Planning and development programs focus on principles of planning, analysis, and architecture to the development and improvement of urban areas and surrounding regions; how public and/or private land and associated resources can be preserved, developed, and used for maximum social, economic, and environmental benefit; and the creation and redevelopment of housing, offices, retail centers, and industrial sites. Programs may include instruction in principles of architecture; master plan development; community and commercial development; zoning; land use planning; applied economics; policy analysis; natural resources management; environmental impact assessment; statistical and analytical tools; mapping and report preparation; site analysis; design and construction; and historic preservation.
