Athletics is a driving force for the College. The success of the many Manhattan College sports teams helps bring money and exposure to the school. The College has gained significant exposure from the success of the men’s basketball team, a highlight of the school. The Manhattan College baseball team has experienced a renaissance in recent years, too.

The track team is another team that has had a lot of success. The men’s track and field teams won 10 straight championships at one point. This program has members leading the country in several events, and they have had several All-American athletes. Overall, a lot of the sports teams at Manhattan College have had success at one point or another, and being a Division I school, they are always going to get a good amount of media attention. However, the College does have to compete with St. John’s, Fordham, and Columbia for that attention. Some of the programs may be in a down period right now, but it's nothing that some smart recruiting can’t fix.
