With a student-to-teacher ratio of 14 to 1, no student will be ignored in the classrooms at Manhattanville. The average class size is between 13 and 17, meaning professors will know their students’ names. A small class size is one of the benefits of going to a small private college like Manhattanville. On the other hand, seminars and lectures will have more students. These classes can have a roster of up to 45 students, so getting attention and extra help is up to the student in this case. All professors have office hours, but many go above and beyond their call of duty. Professors at Manhattanville genuinely care about how well their students do and recommend that their students meet with them whenever necessary. With that being said, it is no surprise that many professors will work with students around other schedules if time is an issue. Email is also a great way to keep in touch with professors about assignments and concerns with the curriculum and syllabus. There are also professors who give their students their home telephone numbers. Clearly, these professors like to make themselves accessible in and out of the classroom as much as possible.

Manhattanville has an exceptional School of Education. The School of Education is accredited by NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education), which is a big deal when aspiring teachers present their resumes to possible places of employment. Being accredited by NCATE means that Manhattanville’s education program assures that graduating teachers will have received an impressive education and will be capable educators. In addition to its outstanding teacher education program, Manhattanville also has a theater program that stands above the rest.
