We have one dining hall available:upper and lower Manser. Upper Manser is a buffet style, the typical campus dining hall. They try to keep it different and offer vegetarian/vegan options along with gluten free. Lower Manser is pizza, subs, wraps, and pastas. The variety and value is average. It is best to get a meal plan, and the maximum amount of meals you can have is 19, which most people usually don't use all that many a week. Every semester you get $200 flex, which is easy to spend fast since prices are high. There is also a cafe on campus called Jazzmans with plenty of drinks, breakfast sandwiches and cookies. It's similar to a mini Starbucks, but prices are high.

Guys & Girls:
Students on campus are quite diverse. A handful are the typical country folk. You will see at least one person with camo on everyday. However, most people dress in the usual american eagle, north face, Sperry, ect. I would say most students are average in looks and how they dress.

All but one dorm is New. Within the next year, all students will be in new housing which include suite style options, and personal bathrooms.
The new dorms aren't as friendly as the old. When students were in Maple (freshman dorm) everyone had their door open and made it available to talk to other students. The new dorms do not allow that easily.
The new dorms have marker board rooms, three study rooms on each floor, and two TVs per floor available for everyone.
The cost is pricey, but it is convenient to stay on campus rather than commute.

The location of the school is wonderful. It's a small town with beautiful scenery. The colored leaves in the Fall is quite a sight, and local lakes and ponds for fishing are great. If you enjoy being outdoors, there are many opportunities surrounding Mansfield for hiking, kayaking, fishing and hunting.
The small campus feel is great. Professors get to know you on a first name basis, which is beneficial when needing recommendations written. My education has been challenging enough so I feel I will be well prepared for a job in my field of study.

There are 2-3 bars on main street, within walking distance of campus. The shuttle bus runs late night on the weekend, if you need it.
You will only find a party if you are looking for it.
Mansfield tries to make activities available on campus to keep people from going off campus to parties. Mansfield is a dry campus, so no drinking on campus is allowed.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:28:36Z
The only available transportation is the Mountie Shuttle bus. The drivers are very nice, and will take you just about anywhere you need to get to in Mansfield. The Mountie is free for all students.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:27:05Z
For on campus, I believe it's $40 a year for parking. For commuters, it is about $20 a year for parking. You don't need a car, if you do not plan on going home much. The Mountie shuttle bus is constantly going to Walmart, and weekend bus trips are available for shopping. Parking for on campus students is a hike up Cardiac hill. If you are lucky, you can get a parking spot behind your dorm. Those however are hard to get and when people do park there they, do not like to lose it.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:22:53Z
For being a small town, I would say Mansfield is very accepting toward diversity on campus. There are a few closed minded people but a majority are extremely accepting to minorities, ect on campus.

The health Science department at Mansfield is fantastic. As a Nutrition/ Dietetics and Sports Nutrition student, the workload is not the easiest and is some times quite challenging. The workload is average, and it all comes down to how much time and effort you put into it. Most of the professors are generous and are willing to help you out if you need it. Some professors even want you to stop by just to chat.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:20:55Z
Most professors are really friendly and helpful. Some classes are hard to get into, and registration can be a pain.

Underage drinking and alcohol/drug related use is not taken lightly. If you get caught, there are strict consequences.

Health & Safety:
Campus crime is small for the most part. If something does happen though regarding students and crime it will be featured in the student newspaper for everyone to see. Mansfield is ranked to be one of the safest campuses, and have many policies to enforce safety. Emergency lights are placed along paths in Mansfield, and id cards are needed to get in dorm buildings and even onto your floor.
With that being said, I still would not walk across Mansfield by myself in the middle of the night.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:11:14Z
Mansfield is a dry campus, so all alcohol and drugs are not allowed. All parties are off campus, and you will only find them if you are looking for them. Campus police are quite strict regarding alcohol and drug policies and most majors have rules as well regarding alcohol and drugs.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:08:24Z
Computer labs are available throughout the campus. Doane, the police center, has a 24 hour computer lab.
Printing on campus varies about $7-10 cents a page. I personally brought my own printer because I print a lot, but I know students who print everything off the campus computers and have never had a problem.
Wifi is iffy, but for the most part is average. Wifi is available in most of the buildings, the new dorms and the library. The speed of internet is average.
I would bring your own computer for convenience, however computers are available for use. Some professors at Mansfield still do not allow computers or tablets in the class room for notes, and most students do not use them in class anyways.
College Junior 2013-11-28T12:03:03Z
As a freshman, there is not application process for scholarships. When you apply, you are looked at for a scholarship. However, after freshman year, you are expected to apply, which Mansfield does not come out and tell you.

The Greek life is great on campus. However, I am not a member, nor do I plan to be. Mansfield Greek life does a lot for the community, and put many hours in for community service. They host activities on campus for all, and most do not look down upon other non-Greek.

Quite a few dining options are fast food like Arbys, Wendys, Pizza Hut, Subway, Mcdonalds and Dunkin Dounuts. Mansfield has quite a bit of other restaurants, like pizzerias, Chinese, the Hungry Monkey, and Cast and Crew for the average priced, delicious college food. Also available are a few upscale dinning options a little out of town, or a few diners. There are definitely a lot of options as far as food for a small town. Most locations do have student discounts of about 10 % if you show your ID. Cost is typically average, sometimes a little pricey. A personal favorite is Cast and Crew, which is a fantastic burger place. Looks a little run down on the outside, but the food will surprise you.

The weather is very bipolar. One day it's sunny, the next it is snowing. Definitely bring a pair of rain boots; it tends to rain at least once a week, or it feels like it. When it starts to get cold, it gets cold fast. Be sure to bring appropriate shoes and clothes for winter, since Mansfield does not usually close when it snows.

Our athletic center, Kelchner, is great! They always have classes going such as Zumba, Yoga, Insanity, ect. They have just about everything you would need in a gym at Kelchner, they even have a rock climbing wall. Also available is Decker, which is the gym for the athletes. Decker contains a pool which is available for free swim at specific hours.
The library is fantastic. Very old, but has a charm to it. Hours are great on weekdays, however weekend hours are limited. They have a good number of computers and printers available, along with group and private study areas.
There is always activities on campus between Greek life, the activities counsel, or Res life. Mansfield is always bringing in comedians, musicians, ect.
Also, there has just been a mini arcade available for students for free. Great for on campus students, commuters, and faculty.
College Junior 2013-11-28T11:46:48Z
There is a wide selection of academic programs and concentrations at Mansfield. Some classes are extremely challenging, while others are a breeze. It all depends on the professor and the class. Every professor I have had seem very helpful and willing to meet with the students. The professors want you to succeed, and know you by name. At Mansfield you aren't just a number. Since class sizes are small, professors get to know you as a person throughout your time at Mansfield.
Mansfield also has many opportunities to study abroad. I know quite a bit of students who have studied abroad at many different places, who have loved it.
The amount of clubs available is fantastic. There is at least one club you will enjoy from the long list available. If you do not see one that interests you, you can easily start a new club on campus.
College Junior 2013-11-28T11:32:42Z
If you are into small towns, and a family like atmosphere then Mansfield is the place for you. As far as attractions, there aren't many in town. Main street consists of quite a few restaurants, and a couple bars. Also, there is a bowling alley, Walmart, and a few fast food places near by. The closest malls are about 45 mins to an hour away, but the campus provides transportation to those on the weekends. The Mountie shuttle bus can take you to Walmart at various times in the day, along with just about any where in Mansfield you need to get to. Mansfield is great about having about 2-3 concerts a year which have included artists such as Mac Miller, Kip Moore, Brantley Gilbert, The Band Perry and more. They also have bus trips every month that include going to Washington D.C., NYC, and Baltimore for $10.
College Junior 2013-11-28T11:23:58Z
Selection of Sports at the school are limited. We have sprint football, basketball, and women soccer that seem to be the most popular. Most of the time you don't even know when it's game day until you read about the score a week later in the campus newspaper. As far as school spirit, probably the most involvement is for sprint football. The Athletic facilities are pretty good. The football field is well kept, and has just received new lights.

They have a strict dry campus policy as well as having a zero-tolerance policy towards drug use as well

Health & Safety:
The police are out patrolling 24/7 and it makes me feel quite safe :)

The criteria included taking certain courses in high school and graduating with a certain gpa for the year. I encountered problems with my gpa but that was quickly fixed.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
