Students say they feel absolutely no reason to feel unsafe at Marietta. The rare crimes that occur on campus are mainly petty pranks, and if there is ever a crime deserving more attention, Campus Police (CPS) acts on it immediately and effectively. If anything, CPS takes extra precautions. Students say they feel safe walking across campus alone during the evening hours because CPS cruisers can be found in nearly every part of the campus. But if you do feel uncomfortable, CPS is more than willing to escort you back to your dorm or car. Although there has been one recent sexual assault case, CPS handled it very efficiently, and no one felt unsafe. The students knew that things like this rarely happen, so were truly not very affected by the crime.

All of the buildings have very secure locks and alarm systems, and rooms have very secure locks, as well. CPS emphasizes that if you take the normal precautions, such as locking your room at night and being smart about who you interact with during the evening hours, there is no need to worry about safety. Everyone at Marietta—and their parents—feel that safety is nothing to worry about.
