Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If there is one thing Marlboro College is known for, it’s a passion for learning. The kitchen staff learn from the professors. The dean of students learns from the custodial crew. The president learns from the students. It’s a circle! The students have created a community at Marlboro College where learning is an everyday adventure. Classes are built around informal conversation, which means every voice has an opportunity to be heard. Marlboro gives students the confidence they need to find their own way. Students are encouraged to study broadly but also to keep their own interests and passions in mind. By the end of your years, you will have incorporated all of your classes into one comprehensive project. “The Plan” is one of the most sought after assets Marlboro has to offer. Can you imagine applying to graduate school having already research and prepared your own thesis?

This may sound a little too utopian, but with a small community of 300, if you’re not fully invigorated by your studies, someone is going to take notice. When class sizes average at 10 students, skipping the reading will just not cut it with your professors. Of course, with such incredible expectations, your homework load is going to be more than average. But if you keep up with your work and speak your mind in class, you’ll most definitely rise to the occasion.

As Good as It Could Be

At Marlboro, their are usually fewer than ten students to a class. If there are more, they probably wrote to the professor to get into the class. People take their academics seriously, and the professors are great. And if you aren't impressed with the curriculum, you can design your own classes and coursework, and it can be one on one with a professor or you can invite all your friends.
