Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

This may sound odd, but Marlboro has no campus police. In fact, there's a policy to keep police off of campus until a necessary situation arises. That way, the students are solely responsible for what goes on here. Most every building is unlocked 24 hours a day. Even Dalrymple, the academic building, is never closed. There's a community trust on campus that says people will generally not try to wrong one another. It also doesn’t hurt that Marlboro only has about 300 students, so if someone steals something from you, you’re going to see them with it the very next day.

Though generally calm and safe when it comes to security, thefts do occur. Computers left unattended for weeks on end (something very common in the library) may turn up missing when you return. As far as date rape, assault, harassment, and many other serious crimes, they do happen. When incidents of this nature occur, victims who speak out will attend Community Court, the judicial system within the Marlboro community. Any assortment of issues can be discussed there, and often an effective resolution can result. If troubles persist, outside forces will be contacted. Look at it this way: Generally, students at Marlboro feel safe walking at night alone.

A Safe Place

Marlboro is a safe place. You can walk alone at night without feeling threatened, and we only have one security guard, Pete, who's known for his funny conversations at two in the morning.

Safety & Security at Marlboro College

well is supper safe, we are on a mountain. accidents do happy when people are intoxicated, and it seems like it is much more of a big deal then it is because of the small amount of students hear. every one keeps there doors unlocked, and things don't get stolen. you can also just leave your things around and its fine. sometimes there will be petty theft, but everyone gets very angry about it and it ends shortly after it begins.

Things are very safe in our community. We have a nighttime campus safety patrolman, but because of our community atmosphere, we don’t have problems with safety on campus. If someone steals something from you, there’s a good chance you’ll get it back.
