Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Cars are gateways to the outside world at Marlboro—if, of course, the weather cooperates. Many students have cars, and there are no restrictions on who can have a vehicle. Although parking is generally efficient and plentiful, Marlboro is a car-free campus. That may sound like an oxymoron, but the main buildings, dorms, and dining hall restrict parking except for rare circumstances. Students who do not commute to school can park in two designated parking areas within walking distance from campus.

It’s easy to find parking at Marlboro. The No. 1 complaint students have about parking is the trek to and from their car. But if you have your own vehicle, you’re most likely going to make the sacrifice in order to get off the Hill.

Parking

Parking is free in one of the three lots that are adjacent to campus, but if you're lazy enough to try to park on campus you may get a ticket, that you probably wont have to pay.

I think ticketing is good. I think...

I think ticketing is good. I think people need to learn not to moan about getting tickets. The cool thing is we get to vote on the cost of tickets, where people can and can’t park, and where cars are allowed. So I think, generally, it’s very fair. So people need to stop whining!

It’s nice not having as many cars on campus all the time. It makes walking around much easier and keeps our community more personal.

Getting a Parking Permit

At the beginning of the year, a simple form with insurance information, vehicle information, and license numbers is all that’s required to obtain a permit. The permit is a small green sticker to be placed in the back window of your vehicle. Without one, your car will most surely get a ticket.
