Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

There is one thing you can be certain about: Marlboro College is not for everyone. It takes a certain person to come here and challenge themselves to an independently-created education. To give a student freedom and endless opportunity is often a scary concept. Additionally, to create a project that reflects four years of rigorous learning is quite the undertaking. But once embarked upon, a journey through Marlboro has infinite rewards.

Consistently growing in its respectable reputation, this school will forever strive to keep the learning process focused on and around the students. Walter Hendricks wanted to make education a conversation, and that’s what Marlboro College continues to do. The College has yet to change its approach to learning. As a student at Marlboro, you can expect to be tossed around, treated like an adult, and taken to new heights. Not everything is possible at Marlboro, but once a student graduates, they have the power to imagine anything and act upon their dreams.

I love Marlboro, but I sometimes think it has less to do with the school and more to do with me. If I had come here straight from high school, I would’ve hated it. I would not have had the discipline or vision the school requires for success. I took four years off to travel, experience life, and work in the nonprofit/community-service sector, which made all the difference.

Here on the Hill.

After having completed my first year here, I can say I'm really happy with my choice. My absolute favorite part about Marlboro is the academics - I've been a bookworm my whole life, and Marlboro is a paradise for bookworms. Because of the structure and size of the school you get to foster really close working relationships with your professors. The classes are all super amazing, but they do require a lot of work. I've also met some amazing people here who've made me feel welcomed and appreciated. Some people find the Marlboro experience "claustrophobic," but the thing to remember is that a Marlboro education is what you make of it. If you make an effort to take your studies seriously and are enthused by an actively democratic community, Marlboro is awesome.

Incredible

This school is amazing. Admissions are kind of easy but not everyone who gets in can make it here. The work is extremely rigorous but the professors are amazing. It's really easy to get close to them and they can be your best allies. The campus is gorgeous and the buildings are too. The sense of community is abundant and the students are really diverse and wonderful.
