Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Nearly all Marquette students agree that campus food could definitely use some fixing. While most residence hall have their own dining facility—which sounds great—each offers a similar buffet selection, usually with the same menu. Cuisine options generally include burgers or sandwiches of some sort, an Asian dish, some other foreign entrée, pasta, salad, and a variety of side items. It seems like most of the food typically contains higher fat and grease content than it normally should, but this is dorm food, so what can you really expect?

The saving grace of on-campus dining is Marquette Place in the AMU. There are six different restaurants to choose from here, and students can use their meal plan at any of them. Marquette Places has everything from burgers, subs, and sushi to bagels, salads, and tacos. The food at Marquette Place is a much better quality than the food in the dorms, and most students prefer to eat here. Overall, when it comes to dining at Marquette, if you can stretch your dining dollars and make the best of what is available, you should always be able to find something that you'll like enough to eat.

Best Places

All the food pretty much tastes the same on campus, but there are some specialties you should be aware of when purchasing a meal plan. Use your dining dollars at the Annex and take advantage of every meal swipe at the Brew Cafe's. McCormick is good for late night food, and don't forget about Hot Cookie nights.

Good and Diverse

The dining halls are a bit hidden but when you know where to go the food choices are extensive. There is also a wide variety of restaurants on campus or nearby.

Need More Fresh Fruits and Vegtables

There is one meal plan on campus - so I can't compare to anything else. I will say that there is not enough fresh fruit and vegtables. No specialty fruits - mediocre apples, bananas and oranges. I wish there were more healthy choices for food. Lots of hamburgers, pizza etc. I will say I have definately gained weight while at college.
