Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Okay, so Marquette is no “Legally Blonde” or “Revenge of the Nerds,” but the Greek presence is there. The Greek system here is not as big as it is at some other schools, but the Marquette students who do join a frat or sorority say they have enjoyed every moment. Sorority and fraternity life does provide tremendous opportunities for students to discover a home away from home, develop leadership skills, enhance their academics, and create unforgettable friendship bonds. Each chapter allows for a hands-on experience with leading committees, managing budgets, interacting with faculty and staff, organizing and facilitating educational programs, and participating in community service projects, all aside from the numerous social events.

So even though the majority of Marquette students prefer some other sort of organization or hobby, do not let that stop you from becoming a brother or sister if that’s what you want to do. If Greek life catches your eye, give it a try. There are plenty of fraternities and sororities on campus to choose from, and each can provide a little something extra to your college experience. Greek life certainly does not dominate the social scene of the University, so whether you are Greek or not does not make any difference on that front.

There If You Want It

If you want to be active in the Greek scene, there are sororities and fraternities of all types available on campus. Many of them hold social events, charity events, and more. However, they don't dominate the campus. If you don't want to be in one, it isn't a big deal.

Available but Not Necessary

If you are interested, greek life is an option but is not extraordinarily popular on campus. The greek groups are very chill and cool, not people or places to be avoided.

Skip Social Frats, Academic Frats Prevalent

The social frats are very scarce, only like three or four that ever have parties and they kinda suck. They're just wannabe frats, but it's hard just because greek life isn't that big here. Sororities are fairly popular though. A lot of girls will do it, a lot won't, just depends. The academic fraternities are good though, lots of kids do those, especially business and engineering students.
