College Prowler Take
After a long week of stressful studying, there is no wonder why Marquette students love the nightlife! Who would not want to go out and grab a cold one at a local campus bar, or take a trip down to the infamous Water Street? With such a prestigious and academically demanding school, the nightlife and bar scene must be, and is, of top quality. Yes, Milwaukee and its residents love their beer; Milwaukee was once known as the beer capital of the world, and certain local restaurants, such as Water Street Brewery and Rock Bottom, brew their own specialty beers. For most students, the typical weekend of nightlife consists of a Friday and Saturday night; yet, for a select few, the addition of a Thursday night comes into play. Then, of course, some students think, “Heck, why not go out every night?” While the percentage of students who feel the need to partake in the “life is a party” credo is small, the typical party nights for the majority of Marquette’s student population only involve Thursday through Saturday evenings. Most, if not all, freshmen get involved with the on-campus party scene because they are underage and lack legal IDs. Most sophomores, juniors, and seniors enjoy their time at the bars. Parties on campus do take place. Due to Milwaukee’s weather issues, though, the likeliness of more than a handful going on at once is rare.

Bars are very popular at Marquette. whether, it be campus bars, or downtown bars, everyone usually goes. Underage drinking is very popular. Almost everyone has a fake ID if they are under the age of 21. Usually people will take cabs to downtown bars. For house parties on campus, there is a nice transportation system at night that will take the students to different houses.

Parties? What parties? MU parties...
Parties? What parties? MU parties are not all that great. There are tons of people that want to go to them, but the problem is that all of the people that live in houses and apartments all go to bars. |

Get a fake. That is...
Get a fake. That is essential. No fake, no fun 'cause all the parties are packed with unlimited freshman and a limited amount of beer. Plus, the theme bar crawls can match any 'party school.'

House parties at Marquette are...
House parties at Marquette are great at the very beginning of the year and pretty good at the end, essentially when it is warmer out. There are a lot of bars and most of them are pretty fun. Fake IDs are not too difficult to get either. So, house parties during fall and spring and bars during the summer.

There are a ton of bars and clubs...
There are a ton of bars and clubs that are close to campus. You can also take buses to the ones that are further away, if you want, because the buses run late and we all get bus passes with our tuition. Cabs are cheap and are much easier than buses, though. Water Street is the main strip of bars, and there are many there. |
