Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Unfortunately, there is a not-so-pleasant parking issue at Marquette. The situation is obviously not helped by the hectic city’s limited space. Although there is currently available parking for students in both an indoor and a surface lot, the price is rather costly. There may be limited parking spaces on side streets for a short duration of time, but those spots are usually hard to find. However, most students don’t even bother with parking because they don’t find the need for a car on campus—the public transportation system is that convenient.

Even though having your own car may seem like a great idea for quick trips around town, to the mall, or even a straight shot back home, Marquette’s campus is so contained and so close to the public transportation system that most of the time your own two feet are sufficient. Besides, tickets are issued—and quite often—for illegal parking, and additional fines are added for the illegal use of designated school parking lots. So unless you have an unusual situation, the amount of time you would absolutely need a car is not worth the price or worry of keeping one on campus.

Don't Have a Car

Don't have a car but my parents never have trouble parking when they visit. Lots of street parking and a parking garage.

Ok Parking

I don't have a car on campus. My friends who do say that it is reasonably priced and they have easy access to their car when they need it. Freshmen who live in the dorms are not supposed to have cars on campus.

Very Limited

There are some places but it can be tricky to find a meter close to the dorms on a friday or saturday night (or if there is a basketball game). There seems to be a lot of parking permits available, but campus is small enough that there are not a ton of students that seem to use it.
