Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If you’re planning on living in Milwaukee, you have to love the seasons—every single one of them. During the school year, you will experience a wide range of temperatures, and you may sometimes experience them all in one day. Move-in day is right around the end of summer, so it will be hot, and it could still be in the 80s into October. Fall can start in September or later. Winter is the season you will be seeing the most of—it will probably start around late November and last till the end of March. Spring can come early or late, but when it does, campus is beautiful and lively after a harsh winter. While the winter is very cold and often very snowy, students quickly adjust and get used to the cold temperatures. It also gives students a greater appreciation for nicer weather. When it is above 30 degrees, lots of students can be seen on campus hanging out in front of the Union playing Frisbee, reading a book under a tree, or hanging out with friends. So, if you enjoy a wide range of temperatures and weather types, then Milwaukee is the place for you. And, with the constantly changing weather, there is a time where everyone can enjoy whatever type of weather they like.

With the always-changing climate in Milwaukee, you will definitely need to bring a variety of clothing. During the summer, you will need shorts and tees. A lighter jacket will work during the fall and spring. Winter is a little trickier. You will need layers—and lots of them—for your treks to class. A warm winter coat is a must, and boots that can make it through lots of snow will be needed, too.

If you cannot stand then cold, then you went to the wrong school. Fall and spring are delights as far as weather goes. Not too hot but not too cold. For four months of the school year, 60-80 degrees will be the norm and campus will be pretty lively. However, once winter hits, snow and cold are your everyday livelihood. The snow can be bring a lot fun with it and allows for opportunities that warm climates cannot provide. However, I have not found anyone who enjoys those below zero days. The weather in Milwaukee will range between comfortable and bearable.
