Drug Safety at Maryland Institute College of Art

Not Really an Issue

Being in such a large city, and so close to some night life areas, you'll naturally encounter some drug use and drinking. The school offers numerous emergency services, and I've never felt pressured to do anything. There isn't much concern, but not much tolerance either.

Diversity at Maryland Institute College of Art

Very Welcoming

Like the area around it, MICA is made of primarily white students. Mostly female too, like most art schools/programs. There is a notable amount of diversity and most of the students/faculty are fairly welcoming and liberal. Lots of clubs for different ethnicities, religions, interests, etc. Also very, very open to alternative sexualities.

Weather at Maryland Institute College of Art

Varies Alot

Baltimore gets as much as 8" of snow in winter, but I really like snow so that's not a big deal. People up here don't expect special treatment in hard weather (N.C. schools closed for 1/2" of snow...). It does get nice in summer, even hot. Slightly rainy year round.
