There are four main forms of transportation in NYC: the subway, buses, taxis, and walking. Because the island is so small, getting places is a cinch.
Both the subway and MTA buses require a Metro card, which costs about $2.50 a ride. Taxis are more expensive, but you can get almost anywhere in Manhattan for $20—split that with a few people and you sometimes end up spending less than you would for a subway ride! Walking is always free, and there is always something to look at. So grab your iPod and put on some cute walking shoes.
